Born from a real world problem
TankWatch started close to home. My 82 year old father's private water supply is problematic - at risk every summer of running out. I wanted to provide something he can easily see, without him having to trek up into the hills. I know several others dealing with the same issue - water supplies are being squeezed with the drier summers caused by climate change. Many rural properties share a private supply between multiple households, and being able to see the tank level at a glance helps people manage what little water they have.
By logging tank levels over time, neighbours sharing a supply can make sense of usage patterns, working together to make the most of what they have. Downward trends in water levels encourage users to be more careful with that they have.
That same historical record has a second, unexpected use: when it comes time to sell a property, a documented history of consistent supply is real evidence for buyers and solicitors - far more convincing than "it's never really been a problem."
Meet The Founder
I'm Johnny, the person behind TankWatch - designing, building, installing, and supporting every system myself.
With over two decades of hands-on experience as an electrical engineer, I also work for a company managing hydro-electric generation systems here in Highland Perthshire. That gives me a solid technical grounding in remote monitoring. Having grown up relying on a private water supply myself, I also understand the day-to-day reality of it first hand.
No call centre, no account managers, no ticket queues - when you have TankWatch installed, you're dealing directly with the person who built it and who'll answer if something goes wrong.
